The Fordham Urban Law Journal is accepting articles and essays for publication in our upcoming Volume 53.2. The Journal publishes themed issues, and Volume 53.2 will focus on the enduring presence of discrimination within various areas of law and the legal system. The Journal is seeking scholarship related to how systemic biases and inequities continue to shape legal doctrines, judicial outcomes, and institutional practices. Volume 53.2 is set to be published in November 2025.

The Fordham Urban Law Journal is notable for addressing legal and public policy issues affecting urban populations across the world. The Journal is the second-oldest publication and most-cited specialty journal at Fordham Law School. The Journal is the second most cited public policy law journal in the country and is one of the few journals that focuses particularly on urban legal policy.

We hope articles and essays submitted for this issue will analyze race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, and age discrimination in contexts such as criminal justice, housing, employment, healthcare, and education, though this list is far from exclusive. Contributions may also explore the role of legal advocacy, policymaking, and community resistance in addressing these challenges. We will accept proposals and outlines on this topic. We are seeking both essays over 5,000 words as well as articles over 10,000 words. One-page abstracts are due by June 2, 2025, and we would expect to receive first drafts by June 30, 2025.

Articles or essays, as well as proposals and outlines, can be submitted through online platforms, such as Scholastica, or by email directly to cdominy@fordham.edu. Should you have any other questions or concerns, please contact Christa Dominy, Development Editor, at cdominy@fordham.edu or 610-212-8224.
